USA Study Abroad Engagement Grant
Gateway to Greece strengthens connections between young U.S. citizens and Greek youth, locally active organizations and businesses and Greek higher education institutions, while promoting the mobility of diverse and underrepresented Americans. With the support of the U.S. Embassy in Athens, the program centers on two Overseas Practical Internship and Training (OPIT) scholarships that offer engaging, relevant and dynamic 8 week internships to Greece to underserved U.S. students in summer 2022.
The summer internship program offers students the opportunity to acquire substantive professional experience in an international setting and intercultural communication skills. In order to gain a more valuable cultural experience, students are being hosted in local host families that expose them to the authentic every day local life while also providing a supportive environment.
